At Tiddlypeeps Forest School, we believe childhood should feel wild, joyful, and wonderfully simple. In a world that moves fast, our mission is to create a place where children can slow down, breathe deeply, explore freely, and rediscover the magic of being outdoors.

Nestled in a peaceful pocket of Tortworth Estate — right beside Tortworth Primary School and surrounded by the vibrant villages of Charfield, Cromhall, Wickwar and Wotton-under-Edge — our log cabin and enclosed meadow offer a safe, inspiring space for children and families to reconnect with nature and with each other.

We are more than a preschool, more than a play space. We are a community. A place where muddy knees are celebrated, curiosity is encouraged, friendships are nurtured, and childhood is honoured in its purest form.

We offer a nature-led preschool and a range of enriching outdoor experiences designed to support children’s confidence, wellbeing, and independence. Through gentle guidance, creative exploration, and authentic connection with the natural world, children learn through movement, imagination, and hands-on adventure. Our programmes include:

Forest School Preschool Days – child-led, play-rich sessions rooted in forest school values

The Rewild Play Hub – an inviting indoor–outdoor play space for families, open sessions and community play

Seasonal Events & Family Sessions – a place for parents, childminders and children to come together in nature

Toddler Groups & Workshops – early connection, sensory play, and gentle outdoor learning

Every part of our setting — from the cosy log cabin to the meadow — is intentionally designed to feel warm, welcoming, and grounding. We value slow rhythms, open-ended materials, natural play, and the kind of childhood memories that last a lifetime.

Real play – we champion child-led exploration that sparks creativity, problem-solving, curiosity and joy. Children are free to follow their instincts, move their bodies, and learn through hands-on discovery.

Belonging – every child, parent and educator is welcomed as part of our community. We create an atmosphere where families feel seen, supported, comfortable and included.

Simplicity – we choose slow rhythms, gentle spaces and natural materials that inspire imagination and bring a sense of calm. Our environment is free of unnecessary noise and clutter so children can focus deeply and play intentionally.

Natural resources – we prioritise wood, stone, fabric, loose parts and materials drawn from nature because they offer richer sensory experiences, open-ended opportunities, and deeper developmental benefits than plastic alternatives. Natural resources encourage imagination, problem-solving and emotional regulation — grounding children in the textures, scents and beauty of the real world.

Connection – Connection – we nurture meaningful connections: to self through confidence, wellbeing and emotional awareness; to each other through kindness, communication and shared experiences; and to the world around us through a growing sense of care, curiosity and responsibility for nature.

Whether your child joins us for preschool days, toddler groups, or play hub sessions, our aim is the same: to nurture confident, curious, grounded children who feel at home in themselves and in nature. We invite you to join us, breathe in the fresh air, and discover a place where childhood can be beautifully, intentionally rewilded. We are located in Tortworth, surrounded by Charfield, Cromhall, Wickwar and Wotton-Under-Edge. Our log cabin is nestled amongst some of Tortworth Estate woodland, situated right next to Tortworth Primary School. Our Forest School site is easily accessed via the M5 motorway, being only 15 minutes drive from Bradley Stoke and only 20 minutes from Stroud.
